The debatable Debate

Did anyone actually watch the debate last nite? I checked it a couple of times and couldn't believe the lack of control the moderator (Lehrer) had. He'd tell them their time was up and they'd talk for another minute and a half. The President sure stammers alot when he doesn't have a teleprompter.
I wish that there was someone running that I actually felt like voting for, instead of trying to decide which one will do the least damage! I may have to take back the things I said about Clinton.

I'm Back!

Hi Folks,
Sorry that I haven't been keeping this updated. But now it's time for me to express some opinions. Especially with the elections coming up. It's hard to believe that in a country of over three hundred million people we can't come up with a few candidates that someone might actually feel good about voting for!
This being the anniversary of the 9/11 attacks reminds me of how thankful I was on that day that George Bush and not Al Gore was President!
I won't try to defend and don't agree with everything that he did during his Presidency, but I thank God that he was there on that day. Had it been our present "Commander-in-Chief" he'd have probably apologized because all the planes weren't allowed to get to their targets!

Why kids don't know s---!

OK So I went to the library booksale. This should be a relaxing way to support a very good cause and pickup some bargains at the same time. Not so! It was busy and somewhat crowded which was to be expected at mid-morning of the first day, not a problem. As I browsed my way through the barn I came upon a young (6 or 7) child sitting on the floor in the middle of an aisle, reading a book, oblivious to the world. My first thought was that his parents had lost track of him in the crowd. Evidently not, as a moment later a woman a few feet away handed him another book, saying "Here's another one you might like". My question, then, is how can we expect the children to know anything when the people who should be teaching them don't know anything! I thought about saying something about the child or someone else being injured when they tripped over him, but didn't feel like getting the nasty looks and the "miserable old man" comments . So I decided to take my few purchases and leave, while hoping that when someone did trip over him, his parents didn't decide to sue the library! Since it certainly wouldn't be the parents fault.

Still practicing

Now she's taken off and left me here, there's no telling what will happen now! I guess I'll just keep typing away and see what comes out. We have visions of this being an outlet for my frustations with society in general and yuppie liberals in particular! Which causes my wife to worry about the Secret Service knocking on the door.

This should be interesting, she's making me try my skills at blogging!

I'm about to insert a picture, of what, who knows....

it's a cake!

An Ode to Uncle Joe

Welcome to Richard's Ramblings and Random Rants.

For those who know my father, you'll agree that this blog has been a long time coming. Richard J. Benner is an admirable man, flaws and all, who lives by the credo instilled in him as a young lad by his Uncle Joe Ryan, which is simply:

There's no sense in me being pissed off unless somebody knows about it!

You'll note this theme carried throughout this blog.

So, Happy Birthday Dad! I know once you start using this, you'll find it a valuable outlet for your...talent.

Love TLG
